What Are Keywords and How To Do Keyword Research

Keywords are the backbone of SEO and can help you rank higher in search engine results pages. You may have heard that keywords are essential for your website when it comes to search engine optimization, but what is a keyword? A keyword is simply one word or phrase from a list of terms related to your business or industry that people might type into a search engine such as Google, Yahoo!, Bing, etc. when looking for products or information. 

As a blogger, you might be wondering why SEO is essential. You should consider that your blog posts will also show up on search engines when someone searches for something or browsing through the feeds of other blogs. This means that people who may never have found your site otherwise could potentially read one of your articles!  

The first step in a successful SEO strategy involves figuring out which words and phrases best describe what you want to talk about. These ‘keywords’ can then be used throughout all aspects of your content (title, description etc.), as well as it helping with link building efforts by including them in guest post submissions and links within social media updates.

And if they type in any other keyword related to our business such as ‘collard leash’, again we want them to see our website in the list of results. 

The keywords you choose depend on what kind of business you’re running and what your customers are searching for. Ensure that they include a couple of variations so that one doesn’t have to type out all possible combinations when looking for something specific. 

How to do keyword research? 

Different Ways of Doing Keyword Research – through Google, use tools like Long Tail Pro or AdWords from your own traffic stats on your site. And then start creating content that includes those keywords in them. For example, if you’re a fashion retailer with an online store targeting women aged 18-35 years old looking for something stylish but not too expensive, then it would make sense to include words such as ‘affordable fashion for women’ in one of your blog posts this week so that people searching for these terms will find your website when they type them into their search engine. 

Create a list of keywords and phrases you want to target before writing that blog post. Researching for keywords takes time, effort, focus, and patience, but it’s worth it if you consider that your SEO efforts will impact how many people visit your site in the long term.
